Capabilities

Nickel is the cheap configuration language. Its purpose is to automate the generation of static configuration files - think JSON, YAML, XML, or your favorite data representation language - that are then fed to another system. It is designed to have a simple, well-understood core: it is in essence JSON with functions. Nickel is like a template with embedded logic, which you can use to craft configuration files that aren't static. A parameter could be one value during the week and a different one on weekends. When it runs, Nickel creates a new configuration file that fits all the parameters it's received.
